About the Pastor Matthew LaTourelle
I am delighted to be serving the Lord and his people at Marcell Community Church! Our church is a place where I am encouraged to live out my calling as a pastor which is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who love God and love others (Matthew 28:18-20; 22:37-40).
I was saved as a child, called by God to ministry as a teen and have now served him in pastoral ministry for nearly two decades. One of my passions is to preach and teach the Bible in a way that clearly and relevantly connects its truth to life and one of my greatest joys is to see others take steps of faith in their walk with the Lord, Jesus Christ.
I am blessed to have my wife, Mara, as my ministry partner. Together we are raising two teenage kids who are growing as Christ-followers and learning to be kingdom servants.

What We Believe
- We believe that the Holy Scripture, both the Old and New Testaments, is fully inspired in all that it affirms and speaks with the authority of the very voice of God. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21).
- We believe that the Scripture represents God's complete revelation of His plan of salvation. (Jn. 20:30-31; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 3:14-18)
- We believe in One Eternal God who exists in three Persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-equal in divinity and majesty from eternity. (Rev. 1:8; Deut. 33:27; 1 Tim. 1:17; Is. 45:5, 14, 21, 22)
- We believe that God has created all that exists, that God is separate from His creation and governs that creation according to the council of His will. (In. 1:1-3; Col. 1:16; Gen. 1:1; Is. 44:24,46:10)
- We believe that man was created in the image of God, sinned, and, as a result, incurred both physical and spiritual death (which is separation from God). (Gen. 1:27, 2:16-17, 3:22-24; Rom. 5:12, 21; Rev. 20:14-15; Jn. 5:28-29)
- We believe that sin is disobedience and rebellion against God. (Is. 46:8-13; 1 Jn. 3:4)
- We believe that I have sinned and can never by my own power make atonement for my sin or be reconciled to God. (Rom. 3:20, 23; Gal. 2:16; Tit. 3:5; Jas. 2:10; 1 In. 1:8-9)
- We believe that Jesus Christ is God from Eternity to Eternity and having been conceived by the Holy Spirit became incarnate by the virgin Mary; that this occurred at one point in history, and from that time forward Jesus Christ exists as fully God and fully Man. (Jn. 1:1-3,14; Lk. 1:35; Phil. 2:6-8; Col. 1:15-16)
- We believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for my sins, was raised bodily from the dead, and has by His death and resurrection procured salvation for me and all who put their trust in Him. (1 Tim. 1:15; 1 Pet. 3:18; Rev. 1:5; 1 Cor. 15:3, 4, 17)
- We believe that God through His grace has credited to me the righteousness of Jesus Christ, extended to me the forgiveness of sin, reconciled me to God, and continues to intercede for me before the Father. (1 Tim. 2:5; 1 In. 1:8-9,4:10; Rom. 4:22-24, 5:1, 10, 11; 2 Cor. 5:18)
- We believe that my salvation is by God's grace, not a product of my own effort or righteousness, but is received through faith in Jesus Christ. (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 3:28)
- We believe that the Holy Spirit, through the Scripture, has enlightened my mind to see my sin. God's holiness, and my need of a Redeemer, and by the Gospel message, has called me to faith in Jesus Christ. (Jn. 16:9-11; Gal. 3:1-2, 5:16-17; 1 Cor. 1:21, 2:8-10; Rom. 1:16-17)
- We believe that the Holy Spirit convinces me of the truth, calls me to live a holy life, dwells within me, and bears witness to me that I am a child of God secure in His grace awaiting the day of redemption. (Eph. 4:30; Rom. 8:11, 16; Jn. 16:13; Gal. 5:24-25)
- We believe that God has established His Church, by His Spirit, as the body of those who trust in Jesus, that He has appointed Jesus Christ as its Spiritual Head, and has commanded its members to faithfully worship God, be baptized in His name, and remember Jesus Christ's death by participating in the Lord's Supper. (Acts 2:38; Mt. 28:19-20; Eph. 1:22-23, 4:15; 1 Cor. 12:12-13, 11:23-26)
- We believe that Jesus Christ will come again, that His coming will be personal and visible, and that mankind will be judged-those in Christ to eternal life, and those without Christ to eternal death. (Rev. 1:7; Mt. 24:27, 25:31-46; 2 Thes. 1:6-9)
